Gold Mind Counselling Approach

Gold Mind Counselling services believes that clients have the desire and the capacity to grow towards fulfilling their true potential, and that they are experts on their own lives. Therefore, our counsellors will not give you advice or offer solutions, however, we will work with you to help you understand yourself more fully and to find your own inner resources. With greater self-awareness and trust in yourself, our hope is that you will be able to make constructive changes, leading to a more satisfying and meaningful life.

Confidentiality

Everything you (CLIENT) share with me (COUNSELLOR) in the course of our work together will be treated as confidential. However, there are some circumstances in which I may be required to break confidentiality.

  • If I consider you to be at risk of seriously harming yourself or someone else
  • If your counselling records have been requested by a court of law
  • If another agency or party has requested your information, and you have agreed and provided your written consent to this.
  • Outcomes or actions from which young people need protection including:
    • neglect.
    • physical abuse.
    • sexual abuse.
    • emotional maltreatment.
    • exposure to family violence.
  • Disclosure is otherwise required or authorised by law.

Sessions

Initial sessions will run for 6 sessions, after which we will review the counselling process and negotiate the need for furthers sessions as appropriate. Normally appointments are schedule weekly, however this can be negotiated as appropriate. The duration of the session is 50 minutes. Circle agreed cadence for your sessions below:

  • Weekly
  • Fortnightly
  • Monthly

Payments/Cancellations

Each 50-minute sessions costs $120. Payment will be taken at the beginning of each session and may be made by cash, electronic transfer, or PayPal. Late cancellation fees are payable as follows:

  • 0-24 hours’ notice- full session amount is payable.
  • 24-48 hours’ notice- 50% of session fee is payable.

Record Keeping

Notes will be taken during or after each session to help me (COUNSELLOR) to keep track of our progress together. These notes will be stored in a secure location and may be viewed by you if requested and for a fee of $90. Records are kept in a manner that is safe and secure, with properly limited access. By law your counselling records will be kept by the service for a period of seven (7) years from the date of your last contact with the service.

Email/Telephone Contact

Email or telephone contact will be limited to practical arrangements only. I will not enter telephone or email counselling except by prior arrangement.

Location of Services

The location of services may change from time to time. The main address as at the date of this agreement will be 423 Melbourne Rd Newport, VIC 3015. Walk and Talk service is available as is online/ Zoom as per your requirements and the availability of the counsellor and can be arranged as required. There may be instances where session times are required to be reverted to online and this will advise in advance and as required.

Ending Counselling

Normally, the end of counselling would be by mutual agreement. However, you (CLIENT) have the right to end your counselling at any time. I (COUNSELLOR) would appreciate you letting me know if you decide not to return to counselling, giving at least 48 hours’ notice. If at any time I feel that our counselling is no longer appropriate for you, I will discuss this with you and may suggest discontinuation or a referral to a more appropriate service.
